What are the benefits of traveling with ebikes?

  • With a long-range battery, an ebike allows you to extend your range, so you can travel further and explore more remote areas, making your adventures more interesting.
  • Electric bikes for camping are a great tool, allowing you to make runs to the grocery store or plan a picnic, without having to get in your tow car.
  • While you can certainly get a good low impact workout riding an ebike, having an electric motor to propel you up steep hills or against headwinds will keep you from getting sweaty or exhausted at the end of a ride.
  • Many ebikes are foldable, making them portable, saving tons of space which is perfect for the RV lifestyle.

That’s why we have gathered this list of the best electric bikes for motorhomes, campers, and caravans, so you can find the best ebike for your next adventure.

To figure out which is the best electric bike for RVing, consider this things first:

  • Think about where you will be riding your ebike, and look for a model that will best meet your needs. Some models are better for light urban riding, while others excel when taken off-road.
  • Look for a bike that will fit you well, since it can be very uncomfortable to ride a bike that is either too large or too small for your size.
  • Consider the electronics that are featured on the ebikes you are reviewing. If you are only doing light rides on paved roadways, for example, you don’t need a 1000W mid-drive motor which would be more appropriate for hauling loads on off-road trails. Give us a call if you want to learn more about how to evaluate the electronics of an ebike.
  • Consider the portability: the size, weight and whether it is foldable or not. Camping ebikes are often foldable, so that they can be stowed in small spaces that would not fit a conventional bike frame.

So which electric bikes are the best for RVers? Let’s dive in!

GreenBike City Path Low-Step Fat Tire Ebike

GreenBike Electric Motion has been in the business for many years, and know how to design ebikes that are perfectly suited for the RV life. Their newest model is the City Path, which is a folding ebike with a low-step frame design, and fat tires for stability and traction when riding on uneven surfaces. This affordable electric bike is one of the best ebikes for camping.

GreenBike City Path Low-Step Fat Tire Ebike

The City Path features a powerful 750W rear hub motor, which produces a high level of torque, making it ideal for riding in hilly terrain. This motor is paired with a long-range 48V/15Ah easy access battery, which can be removed for remote charging. Not only does the City Path come with a super comfortable saddle and suspension seat post, but it also has a buddy seat in the back, so that two people can ride at the same time. Moreover, the City Path has hydraulic disc brakes, giving the bike superior stopping power.

The 20” x 4” fat tires are mounted on magnesium alloy rims, which not only look great but give you greater stability and eliminate the need for truing the wheels. The City Path also comes standard with fenders and lights.

GreenBike Big Dog Off-Road Fat Tire Folding Ebike

Yes, we are including another fat tire folder from GreenBike Electric Motion. And for good reason. The Big Dog Off-Road is one of our bestsellers, and it is especially popular with RVers.

GreenBike Big Dog Off-Road Fat Tire Folding Ebike

Unlike the City Path, the Big Dog Off-Road electric bike features a 6061 aluminum alloy full-suspension frame, which flexes when you ride over rough terrain, including rocks and tree roots. It’s ideal for off-road adventures.

The 750W electric motor on the Off-Road puts out a high level of torque, which gives it the ability to climb hills better than many other ebikes on the market today. Like the City Path, the Big Dog also comes with a 48V/15Ah battery, which can be charged on or off the bike. There is also a 6-speed Shimano derailleur, allowing you to ride it like a conventional bike.

One of the unique features of the Big Dog Off-Road is its adjustable stem, which allows you to rotate the handlebars towards or away from the rider, giving you a perfect fit. It also features magnesium alloy rims, fenders and a headlight, and hydraulic disc brakes. If you prefer a fat tire folder that has front suspension but not a rear shock, check out the Big Dog Extreme.

Eunorau E-Fat-Step Fat Tire Electric Bike

The E-Fat-Step from Eunorau combines several features that are popular with RVers. It has a low-step frame, so it is easy to get on and off of, and since the frame folds in two locations, it can be stowed in smaller spaces and is quite portable. But there’s more. This ebike also has 20” x 4” fat tires, which give the rider greater traction and stability, perfect for light to moderate trail riding.

Eunorau E-Fat-Step Fat Tire Electric Bike

The E-Fat-Step sports a 500W rear hub motor, giving it tons of power and torque. You can operate the motor by use of the 5-level pedal assist system (PAS) which boosts your pedaling prowess. There is also a left-side push throttle, which allows you to ride without having to pedal. But most riders like to pedal some, and the 7-speed gears will let you ride the E-Fat-Step like a conventional bike. Combine all three drive models, and you have an excellent and affordable ebike.

Revi Rebel 1.0 Fat Tire Folding Electric Bike

The Revi Rebel 1.0 is another fat tire folding ebike. This format is quite popular with the RV crowd, and we just love the sleek lines of the frame and total functionality of the Rebel 1.0.

Revi Rebel 1.0 Fat Tire Folding Electric Bike

The Rebel 1.0 has a high-powered 500W rear hub motor, which will give you the ability to climb hills or tow loads without the need for vigorous pedaling. Riding this ebike is a breeze, using the 7-speed gear, pedal assist system, and twist throttle. You can find the sweet spot for every riding condition, making the Rebel 1.0 a truly versatile fat tire folder.

This electric bike runs on a 48V/13Ah lithium ion battery which is mounted behind the seat tube for easy access. The battery can be charged on or off the bike, and will give you over 30 miles per charge, depending on rider weight and riding conditions.

The Rebel 1.0 was positively reviewed by Electric Bike Review, who said that “overall, the Rebel offers a fair degree of utility in a relatively compact package. The mid-stem frame design is approachable, and the folding joint isn’t super wide so your knees shouldn’t bonk too much when pedaling. The fat tires along with the front basket and rear rack means this ebike would do well for folks who like to camp and travel with RVs. This bike could easily be folded up and stowed in a RV storage compartment, or even just thrown in the back seat of a car, and then quickly unfolded and be ready to ride through some moderate off-road trails.” Not bad, huh!

GreenBike City Premium Folding Ebike

The City Premium electric bike has a low-step frame and 20” tires, making it ideal for shorter riders or those who prefer a bike that is easy to mount and dismount. It folds in the middle of the frame, but also has a folding tiller, so it is super portable. Unlike the fat tire folders in this review, the City Premium has narrower tires (20” x 1.95”) with mag alloy rims, making it more suitable for riding on paved roads and trails. The sleek, swooped frame design of the City Premium looks great, and makes the bike a breeze to mount and dismount. The large saddle is mounted on a suspension seat post, and there are stitched ergonomic grips, adding comfort to style.

GreenBike City Premium Folding Ebike

You can ride the City Premium using the conventional 6-speed gears, but when you need a boost, just push a button to turn on the pedal assist system, and the 350W nominal (500W peak) output motor will do most of the heavy lifting. You can also engage the right-side thumb throttle, which will power the bike without the need for pedaling. The motor is paired with a long-range, removable 48V/15Ah battery with Boston Power high-capacity cells. On a full charge, this ebike is capable of about 38 miles on Pedal Assist level 1.

The City Premium comes in several beautiful colorways, making it an aesthetically pleasing bike to look at and ride.
